For authors
Author Guidelines
Everything you need to prepare, format and submit a manuscript to the International Journal of Sustainability and ESG (IJSE).
IJSE welcomes original, high-quality scholarly manuscripts aligned with its scope. Authors must follow the prescribed formatting, referencing, ethical, authorship, originality and submission requirements. Manuscripts undergo editorial screening and rigorous peer review. Authors are responsible for accuracy, originality, appropriate citations, research integrity, disclosure of conflicts of interest and compliance with IJSE publication policies.
Before you submit: please read each section below and make sure your manuscript, title page and declarations are complete. Incomplete submissions may be returned before peer review.
1. Manuscript preparation

- prepare a separate title page with author names, affiliations, ORCID iDs (where available) and the corresponding author’s contact details.
Manuscripts may be written in English, Bahasa Melayu, Bahasa Indonesia or Bahasa Melayu Brunei. Manuscripts not written in English should include an English title, abstract and keywords.

- Original research articles: empirical studies with rigorous methodology.

- Cite every source in the text and list every cited source in the reference list.
- Arrange references alphabetically by the first author’s surname.
- Provide DOIs or stable URLs wherever available.
- Check that author names, years, titles and page numbers are accurate.
6. Tables and figures
- Number tables and figures in order and refer to each one in the text.
- Give each a clear caption and state the source of any data that is not the author’s own.
- Prepare tables as editable text, not images.
- Supply figures in high resolution and make sure they remain legible when reduced.
- Obtain written permission for any material reproduced from other sources.
- Provide alternative text for figures wherever possible so that they are accessible to all readers.
7. Ethical declarations
The manuscript should include the following statements, where applicable:
- Research ethics: ethical approval and informed consent for research involving people or sensitive data.
- Conflicts of interest: any financial or personal relationships that could be perceived to influence the work.
